[1/1/2012 - Happy new year]:

I would like to wish all of you a happy new year. It has been great to see the Chip-8 programming language and 1802 based computers still are getting the support they deserve thanks to the hobbiests and clubs. Last year was a great year with the discovery of a 64x64 Hires mode that is compatible with original hardware like the RCA Cosmac VIP and Telmac 1800, many additions to the Chip-8 program library and the annoucement of a new anniversary issue of Viper magazine!

For 2012, i would like to write at least 1 new game for Chip-8/ Superchip and MegaChip-8 and make this game, as well as my previous game AstroDodge available on cassette tape, so it can be run on the original hardware. I will also contribute to the anniversary issue of Viper magazine.

Told you loads of new stuff was around the corner ;-)

I have added a new demo for Chip-8, SuperChip and MegaChip8 to the Chip-8 program pack. The demo was sent to me by ZeroZshadow in 2008, but wasn't working properly at the time. [1/1/2011 - Happy new year]:

Happy new year everyone! So what does the new year have in store for us?
Well first of all there is loads of new stuff around the corner. I've updated my MegaChip emulator to add Chip8x & Color-board support so the release of that is around the corner.
Secondly, Matthew Mikolay has released the sourcecode for his Chip assembler Chasm 1.0. It currently only supports the original Chip-8, but support for SuperChip and MegaChip8 is being worked on for the next version. You can download the assembler on the development page.
Also did a bunch of work on Chip-8 64x64 hires mode, which was invented and described in Viper magazine, quickly after the release of the original Chip-8 interperter. While the hires mode is already working in my megachip emulator and can be easily implemented in other emulators. I'm currently working on a method that will allow the roms to run on a original Cosmac VIP, allowing instant running of hires content on the original machine. More information on this soon.
